This is not just about better working conditions. This is about recognizing that you cannot build ethical AI on the foundation of exploited, traumatized human labor. If the training data comes from people who were psychologically destroyed in the process of creating it, then the technology itself is tainted from the start. We deserve better. The users being deceived deserve better. And the future of AI must be built on something other than our broken humanity. Until then, remember that an AI girlfriend responding to your loneliness might just be a man in a Nairobi slum, wondering if he'll ever feel real love again.

if you're one person making a comic by yourself, don't treat yourself like you should function on the same level as comics that have multiple people working on them. your backgrounds can be squiggles and colors.

allow yourself room to be abstract with details and give yourself some grace

For 2025 I don't want to chase specific art goals. I want to feel good about my work without having to get a certain level of expertise first. I think enjoying the process is more motivating than striving for this distant goal just to feel approved when I have reached it.
