I am from Mississippi, USA, ffs.
I am super upset I didn’t learn about this event in time to be able to make it there. I wanted to support Refill and nab a Sheppard work! 😭

My only regret is that my best gals weren’t there to see my nonchalant reply to Dr. Myob N. Foff.

Killed the high I’ve been riding since yesterday, when I went to update my cc no. at the gym & a man (uncomplimentary) 1. Used the ♿️ button to open the door as I approached it. 2. Said “You can ring the bell for service” as I stood in front of bell w/sign reading same. I replied, “Yes, I see.” 😐😑🙄

I hope everyone starts to pay attention & wakes up to the fact that “red” states are experiments for the worst of politics & laws. If MS (and Black Americans broadly) weren’t dismissed so easily by so many, this country would be in a much better place than we are. We’re the choking canaries!

To underscore how unrepresentative MS govt. is, after med. m. passed, a mayor sued to stop the law & based on her suit+MS SC ruling+state leg. refusal to update our state constitution, we lost our right to ballot initiatives—our only form of direct democracy.

Yes! A handful of districts voted due to an incumbent state rep. becoming mayor of Jackson. What’s gone unnoticed prior are how close our last vote for Gov. was & how not-close votes were against fetal “personhood” (60/40) & for med. marijuana (70/30)…

Since I was responding to you & you liked this post, let me be clear: THE MOST progressive activists this country has produced are/were Mississippians. Yet MS gets shit on or ignored by so-called “progressives” bc of our state’s rigged politics. HRC & Harris campaigned here. Sanders didn’t.

Yes, a lack of healthcare will kill people in the long term. But not having food will kill people quicker.

The cutting of SNAP benefits was designed to kill people and make Dems look shitty.

And too many of you fell for that shit.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Allowing poor people to starve is good? May you have the life you deserve.

And we did get something from this. Anti-RIF aka protecting workers and protecting SNAP. And if you say "why trust laws", what is the point of doing ANYTHING. This fight will continue at the end of January so it's not over. And keep your hate on the real enemies: REPUBLICANS 6/6

The Crescent goes up to NYC/NJ. It’s a two-day trip, but imo, the longest train ride is better than the briefest airport layover!
