25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

My three-year-old was reading the Epstein emails when she turned to me gravely and asked "Daddy, why is the nice orange man joking with the sex offender on his computer?" And when I told her "Because women made it impossible to joke in the workplace," she started crying.

The amount is meaningless — less than one day of salary. But the principle is important: once the armed services are paid by the oligarchs, they become a private militia, and we no longer have a country.

“Reach across the aisle and talk to Republicans. Find common ground and build consensus…” absolutely horseshit advice & expectation. I have no common ground with willfully ignorant, racist, misogynistic, Christ-fascist bullies.

Weird thing where people say “no one could have predicted it” when really what they mean is their political commitments and orientation were such that they ignored everyone who was predicting it

Sorry but “no one could have“ and you having your head stuck up your ass are two different situations

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.

Everyone needs to understand this. Cults CAN AND DO survive the death of their charismatic leader. MAGA will not end when Trump dies; it won’t even meaningfully change.

Just thinking about how gender conformity bullies are happy to misgender people/use the “wrong” pronouns when the intention is to be malicious, mocking, or mean.

why destroy the department of education?

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Annoying thing re dealing w/narcissists: not being able to point out how funny their self-contradictory behaviors are. Person bullied me my entire life about not being correctly feminine-I need a boob job, tighter clothes, more submissive attitude, to lose weight, to gain weight, different hair, etc

the best part is none of Trump's base will ever ever ever doubt themselves or him. they are fundamentally ruined as people. he could execute their children in front of them and they'd still vote for him.
Maybe everyone can see it now, but the world's richest people have tanked it all to restock assets and get liquid after years of illegally playing with funny money. They used "the wokeness" as a cudgel and it worked. The next Disney princess WILL be white, as we all eat beans under the highway.
