This week, we lost one of the world’s greatest advocates for people and nature. Even in her final days, Dr. Jane Goodall was urging us not to give up, and now her legacy lives on through the countless voices she inspired.

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act.

Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.

Train is the new private jet!! Dua Lipa likes the train 💚
"Train is the new private jet." Dua Lipa continues to promote taking the train over flying, boarding a Eurostar to London at Gare du Nord. This is climate-conscious messaging done right. Posted by lejeuneengage on IG.

Ed Sheeran likes trains 😍
🌲Ed Sheeran explains to Louis Theroux that he dislikes private jets and prefers trains because "I like the environment, I like trees." We know that this type of messaging from celebrities is hugely impactful. We need far more of this from more stars.

The right has a plan to profit politically from this.

Does anyone else?
Global average temperature is expected to rise to almost 2C above preindustrial in the next five years, according to the WMO, with falls in crop yields and more than a third of the world’s population being exposed to extreme heat.

People, I'm sorry but we have to deal with this. Later is too late.

The majority of people —56% in the US!—are worried about climate change, but not activated.

Why not? Most feel helpless, hopeless, and don't know what to do. So more fear won't activate them. Rather, knowing what to do—and being invited to do it—will.

Where to start? With a conversation today. 🧵

Climate change is not a religion. We don’t have to believe in it to make it true.

We can say “I don’t believe in gravity” – but if we step off the cliff, we’re still going down. And if we take other people with us, we’re responsible.

I'm a researcher primarily in adaptation. We are not even adapted to where the climate is today.

If you think you can seawall your way through a 4°C planet, you are straight up dreaming.

Mitigation AND adaptation, or you end up with way more of option 3 for dealing with climate change: suffering.
I’m am adaptation scientist and here’s what I had to say about this—many years ago already.
