Taking a break from graphic novels this time round with this beauty of a book by @footymac.bsky.social. Nearly half way through and it lives up to its billing. Incredibly well-researched and well-written history of the Italian game (up to 2007).

10/10 (so far). Would recommend.

Always great to come home to book post from @vocabularyninja.bsky.social and @bloomsburyed.bsky.social. This looks absolutely class and the layout and structure could easily be adapted for different model texts that you might be using. Well worth a look.

Loved this sequel and really hoping there’s more to come from Squire. Definitely a good choice for UKS2 and a must if you have the first.

Pinched one of the boy's Christmas presents this evening. Zawa and the Belly of the Beast is ace. A story about the impact of humans on the earth at its essence. @thewoodenking.bsky.social has created some superb characters and artwork to tell a fantastic tale with a positive message.

Teachers - If you are looking for ideas to stimulate poetry writing in the classroom, or if you don't feel too confident teaching poetry, there are many tried and tested ideas on my blog plus lesson plans by guest poets to guide you through the process. brian-moses.blogspot.com

This is so important. I've switched jobs recently due to, amongst other things, what I felt was lack of autonomy within the classroom. Consistency is important but we need to be trusted to make the right decisions for our classes rather than just expected to follow the same path.

Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!

Whole Class Reading 2025
Hello – it’s been a few years since I wrote about the teaching of whole class reading, and I figured I would do it again, as it’s generally the thing I am asked about the most – plus in…

2024 was the first year I've ever tracked the books I've read. It's been really fun looking back at what I've read this year before looking ahead to the huge TBR pile I've already got for this year.

First ever trip to Hay-on-Wye today. Could have easily bankrupted ourselves. Serious restraint was shown. Especially pleased with the two Tomi Ungerers.

Little bit happy with the comic book haul I've received over the past week. Some amazing books. I'll be stealing some of my son's as well once I'm done with these!

Massive shout out to @busterbooks.bsky.social for another great puzzle book from Tim Collins. After the great Sherlock Bones series & their Knutz & Boltz comic crossover, this choose your own adventure is going to be a real hit. I love the variety in Tim's work at the moment.

For teachers who want author visits: usually, authors charge, and asking for free visits from authors makes things awkward. One chance you have at free visits is when an author is doing a book tour. #KidlitUK #Edusky 1/2

This is currently in my (rather large) TBR pile. If it's anything like Jonathan's other books, it's going to be a bit special.

Making a starter pack for authors who do school visits, so schools can easily find us. This starts off one for primary schools go.bsky.app/5u2ArqX but I'll also do one for secondary. Let me know if you do school visits and you want to go on the list - and whether you do primary or secondary. Thanks.

Another great thread for graphic novels. If only I could afford them all...
🧵 Mega thread (in progress) of graphic novels for kids & YA recommendations. Will be adding to this list progressively. Feel free to add recommendations to it but no self-promo please.
For librarians, teachers, and new readers of graphic novels.
