A MLK Jr. quote which references birds to start the day.
“We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

The 2-9 Giants vs the 4-7 Cowboys isn't the football game that America wants today but it is certainly the game that America deserves today.

I like that Bluesky feels like Twitter did years ago when I could come on here and see what I wanted to see and find what I wanted to find. I love finding a new community of like-minded people.

Nancy Mace is a bigot. We gotta come right out and say it.
And there you have it.

Nancy Mace comes out and says, "It's offensive that a man in a skirt thinks that he's my equal"

That is what is driving them so mad. That a transgender person, duly elected to represent 1,000,000 people, could ever be her equal.

I’ve been on call for jury duty this week. Still haven’t been called in. I’m hoping they call me on Friday, though, because it’s nice not being in charge every once in awhile and having people tell you where to go and when to be there.

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

I love buying books and not reading them.

I blame the Scholastic Book Fair for this problem.

I do read some of them… but the pile of unreads is high.

Someone just asked me for writing tips, and my gut level response was "all writing advice is fake, just read books you like and write as much as you can and eventually something will be good" but then I thought about it and I had some actual advice!

1. Read! Your work! Out loud!

As an English teacher, I love it when a student asks a grammatical question, such as what’s the difference between among and amongst, and I can pull a book off my shelf and point exactly to the reason why.

Can confirm. StoryGraph is far superior. Their stats feature also gives a nice serotonin boost. 😀
Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. A better alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform. And before y’all start, you can transfer all your Goodreads data to Storygraph so you literally have no excuse.
