Phenomenonal bit:
House which has skeletons on this bench all year long took them down for October and has 0 halloween decorations. Amazing commitment to the bit

Where else are you going to find a fun group of folks taking transit to hang out and lazy float a creek through their city?

Minneapolis is it. If you're here, you should join this.

Really enjoyed Minnesota e-bike rebate program commentary from @lucyrehm.bsky.social, who is also the chief House author. To paraphrase: let us meet enthusiastic response by doing *more*:

I certainly share questions about the effectiveness of a shared use path on that part of Lyndale given high ped/bike demand.
(Note that I’m not involved directly with the Lyndale Ave project & I only recently saw the latest proposal)

🚨 All appropriate state and local agencies have been alerted and are standing by. (Don’t) shelter-in-place and await further instructions.🚨

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has their electronic signage asking drivers to “consider less trips” because of the awful air quality when they should be considering their role in reducing car dependency.

Petrified Forest National Park rocks.

How did the trees in this enormous log jam crystallize into quartz? Volcanoes covered this area in silica-rich ash from Earth’s mantle over 200M years ago. The colors beyond white that make up this rainbow are from impurities like iron. 🌈

Best Minneapolis weekend of the year with Art-a-Whirl and Doors Open. The historic Advance Thresher / Emerson-Newton building contained an awesome sculpture made from bike chain!

Older guy riding his bike in the skinny buffer on Lyndale. Hennepin County needs to include an actual bike lane when they reconstruct the street. Lyndale is going to be a bike route whether they think it should be or not. The question is how dangerous they want it to be.

Day 1 at Pinnacles National Park, this place genuinely throbs with life from mobs of condors and turkey vultures in the sky to bird song, blooming flowers and lizards everywhere. The talus caves caused by fallen boulders are fun and dark to explore.

Can recommend Point Lobos, just a gorgeous set of trails for hiking beside the Pacific near Monterey and Carmel.

Upper Yosemite Falls, Sentinel rock, and Yosemite Valley as a light rain started to roll in.

Needed a 🔥 🌯 from Brito’s Burritos and took the most badass method of transportation I could find.

There might be a tornado later but #30DaysofBiking can’t wait.

I’m sure we’ll hear more as candidate questionnaires start to be released, but I’d love to see someone say “hell yeah let’s build 50 miles of protected bikeways each year” on their website.

This morning’s #mspcyclecast: Sunrise and moderate winds, commuters shouldn’t find too much traffic on Bde Maka Ska but watch out for icy spots…

Big thanks to @brianmitchl.com for sharing this 🍦 idea! It was a good turnout of folks discovering the unusual experience of ice cream getting colder as you eat it.

With the warmer weather, this could be great - come strap on a pair of skates and meet up! ⛸️
TONIGHT: Join us from 6-9 pm for another Wedge LIVE Emergency Skating Event under the lights on Lake of the Isles.

Debating riding this morning? Grip is great, weather is warm and Bryant Ave bikeway in Minneapolis is busy!

Saw 10 riders in ten blocks, and the farmstead ice rink is getting a new frozen surface.
