As we mourn Rob Reiner, don’t skip this: he was, pretty much, personally responsible for overturning California’s Prop 8 banning same sex marriage.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

You could just talk about Jim Crow. I promise you, there's no need to leave America's shores to talk about life in a fascist state
Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

And that's the thing:
rather than yelling at those of us who refused to vote for a politician who has already thrown trans people under the bus, you should be yelling at your favorite politicians and telling them to course correct on trans issues.

You don't win by throwing trans ppl under the bus.
If us saying “we’re not voting for u if u don’t course correct on trans issues” & lib voters pooping their pants every time we say it out of fear they won’t have enough votes to win doesn’t indicate that it’s an issue Dems should course correct on if they want to win…

sounds like Dems r just dense.
I think the dilemma is if you end up with LBJ or Goldwater. MLK isn’t on the ballot. Even Lincoln’s positions on slavery were not extremely progressive in 1860.

Protecting trans rights will require proving that it’s an issue Dems can win on. Otherwise, we’re in big trouble.
