Incredible how poor websites have become as the economics worsen. The page here was at least 3/4 ads completely obscuring the content even when you scroll.
Don’t they understand they are killing their own traffic and hardly anyone will click through?

It was not anti-Austro-Hungarian to deplore their brutal invasion of Serbia in 1914

You could do so while recognising the dignity of Austro Hungarians & the right of AH to exist

You could even oppose it in the interests of Austria Hungary, knowing that a this war could lead to its utter ruination

I am unclear why anyone with a choice would now go to a US university, especially for humanities. They can’t do their job under these conditions.
I’m told this is a real letter. It basically says, “We’ll destroy Columbia unless you destroy it first.”

Gosh I wonder what happened in late January?

Not only is this crass, it is highly significant.

Radosław Sikorski is perhaps the most Atlanticist major politician in Europe.

And this is how he is now being publicly treated by US/Musk.

They do not want us to be their friends, they do not want us to be their allies.

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933.

I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

Another big insult to countries, like the UK, who did exactly this and fought and died alongside the US after 9/11
Trump on NATO: "If the United States was in trouble and we called them. We said, 'We got a problem, France.' Do you think they're gonna come and protect us? Hmm. They're supposed to. I'm not so sure." (Literally the only time NATO Article 5 was invoked was after 9/11 on behalf of the US.)

Not saying the Overton Window has shifted much in the last few years, but the man occasionally mentioned as a possible future British PM is now saying we should judge the politics of his ideological soulmates by the precise angle of their Nazi salutes.
Nigel Farage says that Elon Musk and Steve Bannon's Nazi salutes were "not really Nazi salutes" because "they were out to the side."

There's a rumour that Nigel Farage is keeping his head down because he's off to a Trump cheerleading conference over the weekend.

I’m afraid I’m being proved right- Farage is far more interested in Trump's success than British security. He is a bootlicker and a plastic patriot.
