Are all muppets the same species just with wildly different phenotypes like dogs or are there a lot of different species of muppet

I encountered a Black Slug Hunter on a landing stage in southern Sweden. Phosphuga atrata is a carrion beetle (Silphinae) from the family Staphylinidae. This species prefers moist habitats & is not uncommon in Germany. I also found it several times while working on my bachelor's thesis in Hamburg.

I spent the saturday sorting and identifying rove beetles I collected last summer for my bachelor thesis, which I'm going to write this year. The thesis is going to be about the #Staphylinidae diversity in a local nature reserve and I can't wait to go there again! I'm definitely ready for spring.

Great news, you’ve collected enough plastics in your body to start forming an exoskeleton. The universe will always bend toward crab.

Every scientist, long before they were a scientist, was a little kid who stood in front of a fish tank or stared up at the stars or turned over a rock to look at the bugs underneath and said “wow”. On the best days, working in science still feels like that.

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

Gene editing technology began by people studying salt marshes. Ozempic began by folks studying the venom of Gila Monsters. Support for basic science has empowered us to understand our world. Tethering it to applications health has transformed and saved countless lives.

This is a photo of a woodlouse/pill bug I took the other day whilst in the woods. Isopods are so under appreciated.

Stag beetles! They are just like stags, equipped with supposedly intimidating weapons on their heads but end up extremely cute and adorable! Well a stag can be deadly if you don’t keep a respectable distance, but stag beetles are totally harmless!
