I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

TRUTH. i counted the last quilt i made: 51 hours sewing, 63 hours of work total, $356 in materials and costs, not including the machines and notions i already owned.
If someone knits or crochets you a blanket or sweater, they want to keep you warm AND they dedicated many hours of their lives to making it for you.
There's no profit in fiber arts, not when you can get a machine made at Target for 30 bucks. So know fiber artists making for you? Is an act of love.

top ring is a nose print from my sweet dog roland, who died in 2020. (i didn’t make it.) my arthritis etc changed knuckle size by 1.5x; i haven’t worn it for months. i was afraid to size it for fear of ruining a precious piece, but i did tonight. no seam is SO satisfying #SWBKart

growing out my hair over the last three years and having long hair for the first time since i was 13 has made me realize that having long hair is like owning a pet. it requires so much care and maintenance!!
