we love campus free speech. we need to let weird middle aged freaks go to the center of campus to yell at students about how they are faggots. but the second students start saying controversial things like “children shouldn’t be bombed” we must deport them

everyone should listen to this in its entirety but journalists should listen to it multiple times. this is how you ask questions. you just keep asking simple, easily answerable stuff and the evasiveness becomes that much more glaring
In which the Department of Homeland Security struggles to answer a very simple question: "Is any criticism of the United States government a deportable offense?"

But today, I spent my time reading finishing Wherever Is Your Heart by Anita Kelley and then immediately had to make a butch-appreciation playlist. So any song or book recs focused on butches (especially butch4butch themes) is highly welcomed

I think the most eventful thing in my reading in recent weeks has been that I'm rereading The Hunger Games and reading nonfiction about the wars the US was in that inspired those books. I can say with confidence that the first book really holds up and "fuck George Bush"

I should probably use this app more, oops. I'll update my read books thread eventually.

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.
Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

NEW VID! The internet has been flooded with AI generated "history" videos with yassified portrayals of historical people and questionable-at-best information. What exactly are we up against, and how do these generative systems even work? Come learn with me!

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990.
One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS.

The fascist can not see beauty in anything that does not conform to what they believe the world should be. Capitalism needs this too, so that they can more easily market to you.

Be ungovernable.

Fascists hate art. Art relies on nonconformity and fascism can’t thrive in nonconformity. Fascism is full of people who wanted to be creative but weren’t and people who used to be creative but lost any creativity they had to fascism.

The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more.

I'm trying to save them.

You can find the deleted docs at CDCGuidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

Montgomery County Public Schools comes out and tells Trump to pound sand with his EO telling schools that they have to discriminate against transgender students.

Guys, I know I’ve posted this article a lot in the last two weeks. But I’m so serious.

They’re not fucking around, and major executive action aimed at trans literature could happen as soon as tomorrow. The time to take action to protect trans books and authors is *now.*
Okay, here’s the deal: RIGHT NOW is the time for concrete, direct action.

If you’re following me, it’s probably because you care about trans art and trans literature. The article below lays out my suggestions for dozens of concrete actions you can take to preemptively combat literary censorship.

This is from Neuroqueer Heresies by Nick Walker (pg 133). The quote that she references explains so much and while her insights are specific to autism in this context, obviously it goes far beyond to explain a lot of what we're seeing.
