Au fil des ans, cette capture d'écran de l'intro de The firemen a remplacé celle de Retour vers le futur chez les amateurs de fake et de trifouillage - la vraie date est 2010 et ça fait donc 15 ans qu'on nous la ressort chaque année avec une date différente.

Brigette Bardot was a truly despicable racist, homophobe, bigot, and lifelong supporter of fascists. Acknowledge her work, I guess, but don't celebrate her.

Andrew Kadel @DrewKadel@social.coop My daughter, who's had a degree in computer science for 25 years, posted this about ChatGPT on Facebook. It's the best description I've seen. Something that seems fundamental to me about ChatGPT, which gets lost over and over again: When you enter text into it, you're asking "What would a response to this sound like?" If you put in a scientific question, and it comes back with a response citing a non-existent paper with a plausible title, using a real journal name and an author name who's written things related to your question, it's not being tricky or telling lies or doing anything at all surprising! This is what a response to that question would sound like! It did the thing! But people keep wanting the "say something that sounds like an answer" machine to be doing something else, and believing it *is* doing something else. It's good at generating things that sound like responses to being told it was wrong, so people think that it's engaging in introspection or looking up more information or something, but it's not, it's only, ever, saying something that sounds like the next bit of the conversation.

Reading the original Kamen Rider and Devilman manga, produced within months of each other, you can really see Ishinomori's influence on former assistant Nagai. The funky monsters, brutality, and stark humanity. Great stuff.

I amended the meme to say that long-running eurocomics get real fucking racist; obviously I'm referencing Tintin at the start, but the racism of Asterix is kinda self-evident, and gets way worse in the latter Uderzo solo volumes; the end is all Spirou though, the spinoff thing is about that one Spirou comic with an American ship with an all-black crew "for stealth" that acted inappropriately in the presence of women and spoke in racist dialect

I think my biggest thing whenever I revisit Kamen Rider '71 is earnestly wishing Kamen Rider had more of a chance to be scary. It's a such a strength in shows like Black or the early Heisei ones
