The Trump Admin claimed that #SNAP benefits aren't available for Nov 2025 b/c SNAP’s “contingency funds are not legally available to cover regular benefits.” This stands in opposition to the law & prior practice, incl. by the Admin itself.

Michigan's budget does make some progress, but there are still some major gaps, including early childhood funding.

Cuts to Michigan's Great Start system are especially alarming.

Young adults are already struggling and their healthcare premiums are about to DOUBLE.

@economicsecurityproject.org
1/ Starting Nov.1, 24 million people who receive their healthcare insurance through the Affordable Care Act’s marketplaces will see their premiums DOUBLE because of cuts to ACA subsidies and Medicaid passed by Congressional Republicans.

Young adults will be hit the hardest.

SNAP is extremely popular.

Cutting it is not.
There is not a single congressional district in the U.S. where more than 15% of voters support cuts to SNAP, the federal program that provides food assistance to millions of low-income Americans.

Just a reminder, 83% of Michiganders think Medicaid funding should be increased or stay the same.

There is widespread support for Medicaid. The cuts will be devastating.

We should be investing in rural communities and making them better places to build a life & raise a family - not shutting down rural hospitals by choking off their funding.

Saving rural hospitals is one more reason to call your Representative and speak out against this GOP attempt to cut Medicaid.
Hundreds of rural hospitals are at risk of closing, threatening critical care
Hospital officials told CBS News the closure was driven by the same factors that have closed other rural hospitals: low reimbursement rates.

As you go to bed tonight, the House Committee has scheduled a 1 am hearing to vote on taking away healthcare from millions of Americans.

If this was popular, they wouldn’t be doing it in the middle of the night.
May 21, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Under the cover of night, the House is planning radical cuts to health care.

People’s access to care will be terminated. The loss of coverage will make people sicker. And people will lose their lives.

The time to act is now. This isn’t hyperbole.
The CBO finds that if the Reconciliation Bill goes through:
-7.6 million people would lose coverage because of Medicaid changes
-1 million would lose it because of changes to the ACA from E&C
-2.1 million would lose it because of changes by Ways and Means

The cuts at the federal have real implications on people’s lives.
A National Weather Service office in Kentucky was scrambling to cover the overnight forecast on Friday as severe storms moved through much of the eastern U.S.

The office is one of several left without an overnight forecaster as a result of cuts ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency.
