Crazy week with the group ride, live event and a day trip to LA but I still made it to pilates
I listened to this episode walking laps at Golden Hill Park and got a little emotional looking at the downtown view and all the beautiful city and park land we have sacrificed to car infrastructure, imagining all we could reclaim 🥲
Really enjoyed talking with @brooklynspoke.bsky.social and @sgoodyear.bsky.social while they were in San Diego promoting "Life After Cars." They met me in Balboa Park (in the pouring rain!) so we could see, hear and discuss the ways cars have impacted our most precious public spaces.

Have a listen!
BONUS: "Life After Cars” (w/ The War on Cars)
What would society look like if people no longer needed their cars? That's the premise of the new book “Life After Cars,” written by Doug Gordon and Sarah Goodyear.

The bit where you pretend to be the guy stuck in the john swinging from a crane is funny every time

It's so funny watching local California candidates take credit for housing made possible by state housing laws that they opposed. Not the first time this has happened!
This is rich. Connie Chan says she “built real affordable housing, not the Sacramento version that destroys our neighborhoods.”

She points to new affordable housing on Geary: housing that she didn’t build but that *was* built using “Sacramento version” housing laws & $52M in state funds. 🧵

We've entered that time of year when Switzer Canyon drops down to arctic freeze temps at night and you can't help but let out a high pitched squeal biking through it

I can't stop smiling from last night. @thewaroncars.bsky.social delivered much-needed encouragement to fight the good fight with Life After Cars, along with tons of laughs and (deserved) dragging of SD car culture. Best part was just watching all the head nods, pops & cheers from such a stoked crowd

It's so funny to come across young NIMBYs that know literally nothing about housing complaining about evil "luxury condos" like some gen X hipsters in the 1990s. What condos?? Did you just hear that on TV when you were a kid and thought it sounded cool?

Alright San Diego, how many more critically acclaimed, pop-up-turned-brick-n-mortar smash hit bakeries do we have in us? Because these fancy croissants seem to be solely responsible for holding up the entire 5-over-1 retail market in East Village

Pretty wild weekend going out downtown Saturday (YIMBY legislative workshop) then a show Sunday (Life After Cars book tour)

Society broke down and all, but you really still need to stop at red lights
I can't believe we need to explain this one, but it seems that we really do
