Phew! KEEPER was a journey...and a bumpy one.
My #NightTideMag (SPOILERY) review of Oz Perkins' latest venture, reminding us that in horror and life, women remain the preferred sacrifice for men’s long-term plans.

I say the same thing about horror documentaries and podcasts. There is really no reason why they so often interview white folks and mainly men.
As we look toward next year & make preparations for horror events, organizers, I IMPLORE you to diversify your Women in Horror panels! Such amazing perspectives in all of these books, surely you can find new people to speak with.

In continuation: Diversifying women-led horror panels is essential if we’re to genuinely claim that horror is for everyone, because true understanding and appreciation of the genre requires listening to and learning from the full range of cultural perspectives that shape it. Find new faves 👇🏾

I would also encourage my fellow white authors to ask the organizers that any panels you’re on include people of color as well — and maybe say you won’t participate if the panel is all white. We need to speak up on behalf of our colleagues or nothing will change.

I’ve an emergency for an essay on eco-horror and Christmas involving supernatural or magical creatures, pointing to a pagan/folk horror past. Can’t involve ghosts but can be in any media.

🦴 #NightTideMag Monthly Macabre: Cannibal Horror rolls on.
For Jill Vranken, in Raw, Julia Ducournau reached through the screen, bloodied hand, tender heart, and told her she wasn’t a monster. Just human, and hungry to belong. 👻📽️
