Very cozy impromptu community formed around the air hose at the gas station, as we all lined up and took turns filling our deflated tires in the cold, dark, snowy night. A very Minnesota holiday season experience.

Loved this episode of Plain English with @dkthomp.bsky.social. Suzanne O’Sullivan is such a sane, compassionate and helpful voice in the field of medicine and mental health.

This is a beautiful, profound, deeply personal essay on one man's experience of navigating #FND (which "sits at the interface between mind and brain"), from the far-too-long process of receiving a diagnosis to a psychedelic-assisted session that offered a glimmer of hope.

American foreign policy is vast, complex, and can change by the hour. The First Amendment protects our right to support, challenge, protest, or question the policy of the United States and every other government around the world.
Should the government punish you for allegedly ‘undermining’ American diplomacy?
Federal officials are targeting immigrants for expression they say could impact American diplomacy — with profound implications for free speech.

We had our designer run through of The Mousetrap today at the @guthrietheater.bsky.social. We move onstage on Sun and start tech on Tues. (I'm playing Mrs. Boyle.) The show's already selling like gangbusters, and it's going to be a fun one. Tix available now! www.guthrietheater.org/shows-and-ti...

During this morning's meditation, four words came to me very clearly, in thinking about how to navigate this time:

Presence
Patience
Power

My resolution for 2023 was to be able to do a handstand again. Still not there, but I can do two kinds of headstands, and I’m not done trying. Maybe 2025 is my year!

This is good and fine, and also: Go ahead and tabulate your accomplishments if you like. You don't need to broadcast them, but you probably accomplished a lot this year, and it can be energizing and affirming to see them written down in one place so you can have a private little horn-tooting party.
As we get to the end of another year, just remember you don't have to size up your whole life right now, or compare your accomplishments, or decide exactly who you are. Just keep growing at your own pace. And take a little nap. ❤️

My 81 yo dad is nothing if not practical. He likes to choose one item and get enough of them to give as gifts to everyone in the family for Christmas. One year it was car floor mats. This year it’s this magazine. (I assume he asked ChatGPT for advice on what this year's item should be.)

This is best article on FND I've read yet.

"We need a new science of brain and mind that really encapsulates that brain health equals mental health and physical health." I would also add spirit to the equation.

Put 2 cups of dry pinto beans in a crockpot with sauteed onions, jalapeño, cumin, oregano, chili powder, bay leaves, 4 cups of broth and 3 cups of water at 9:00 am. Twelve minutes of effort buys you 8 hours of wonderful smells, and a large component of a cheap, delicious dinner + abundant leftovers.
