I don't agree with every single word, but this, by Freddie deBoer, on Kanye West, his apology, and mental illness, is a great read. Challenge your assumptions and give it a read.

Latest for @psychologytoday.com. TLDR version: January sees a spike in divorce petitions. Divorce plans aren't always dramatic; often it’s more of a nagging question: Is it still worth the effort? Instead, it’s worth asking another question: Are you a pleasure to live with?

January often sees a spike in consultations with divorce lawyers. But don't just swap one set of problems for another before asking yourself these questions.

“the third Monday in January is notoriously the gloomiest day of the year”, the BBC News website informs us, without revealing the source of this claim is a notorious nonsense PR survey from probably 20 years ago at this point.

A hill I will die on: adults who advocate for a ban on teenagers using social media should face a ban themselves. I’m only half joking.

The "smartphones/social media" discourse suffers from some amazing historical amnesia. There was no 2008 financial crisis and no global pandemic starting in 2020, it's all SCREENS SCREENS SCREENS. Major world events? Just the backdrop against which SCREENS happened.

A useful and sensible summary of the current position.
1. There's going to be a lot of talk about over or under diagnosis and the conversation is going to be a mess.
This is because how ADHD and ASD are defined has shifted. An ADHD diagnosis today isn't the same thing as an ADHD diagnosis ten years ago.

The three hour night.

One hour for chores. One hour with your partner. One hour of "self-care" (whatever that means; I'm not a fan of the term).

Could it save your struggling relationship?

Main take aways from the Attanasio Q&A. He should be taking advice from those outside the club given his lack of football knowledge. But his ability to acknowledge mistakes (a number of them), to see that chopping and changing is not the answer, makes me confident in the long term picture. #ncfc

Can marginal gains lead to big improvements in your relationship?

Calories in, calories out. Harm reduction in substance abuse. All very sensible: but can modest, realistic interventions drive genuine transformation in your relationship?

Penalties are ludicrous. An almost certain goal for a minor foul, in most cases.

There should be a game clock of 35 minutes that stops for fouls and throw ins.

The offside rule is pretty pointless at the top end of the game. We should trial scrapping it.

CDMs are underrated and Gods among men.
Everybody should absolutely view this as an invitation to drop your spiciest soccer takes.
lol I’m gonna need bluesky’s biggest soccer post ever to balance out all the politics engagement im burying myself under.
