i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

Blue cities should tear up the roads in front of ICE facilities and then start decades of community engagement and input sessions to rebuild them. Let's harness our core competencies.

For years this section of cycle track sat unfinished (paint-only) because the rich homeowners there opposed the ugly plastic flexposts used elsewhere. OK, message received 😂

the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

Common pattern when interpreting public input:

In a neighborhood of 10K+ people.

3 people complain about a bike lane = Most residents are against the bike lane

50 people say they want the bike lane = Cyclists are loud, they don't represent everyone

I’ve been thinking about how drivers often express frustration at “that car in my way,” not “the person in that car.” But when it’s someone on a bike, there’s no metal shell to dehumanize it’s just us, in plain sight.

Could that be why cyclists become the outlet for the built-up tension of traffic?

This Captain Planet reboot goes hard
Pattie Gonia has amassed a sizable fan base, booking club dates through the end of September. But she is best known for something few other queens attempt: turning drag looks in the great outdoors.

The goal?

“To create an environmental movement that’s for everyone,” Gonia said. wapo.st/447VEya

I took my oversized bike to Unbound Gravel, remained upright through 108 miles, and had a blast. It was HOT but an amazing experience

It's a calm, quiet evening in midtown KC. From my front porch I'm hearing--for the first time--the gentle "ding ding" of the new streetcar running two blocks away 🤗
