This Hubble image depicts the massive elliptical galaxy ESO 325-G004. Located about 450 million light-years from Earth in the Abell 3574 supercluster, it is an example of early elliptical galaxies (ETGs), which, billions of years ago, were like "cosmic fires" thanks to intense bursts of star formation. Their light, absorbed and re-emitted by cosmic dust, may have mixed with the CMB, the "roar" of the Big Bang, influencing what we observe today During their formation, these galaxies shone 10,000 times brighter than they do today, contributing to the cosmic microwave background. Imagine a vast, luminous cloud suspended in a dark void, like a giant lantern illuminating the silence of space. The main galaxy has an oval shape, with a central core emitting a bright light, like the warm glow of a fire. This light gradually fades towards the edges, as if the galaxy were shrouded in a soft mist fading into darkness. The hue is warm, similar to a pale yellow or pale white, conveying a sense of calm, like a celestial object that witnessed the birth of the universe. There are no sharp details or irregularities, but a smooth, uniform surface, conveying an impression of order and stability. Surrounding the galaxy, the background is dark, like a moonless night sky, dotted with specks of light, resembling distant sparks. Other galaxies are visible, scattered like cosmic dust in a vast empty space.The stars marked by bright rays (diffraction spikes) belong to our galaxy, the Milky Way, and are foreground stars that appear in the field of view of the image taken by Hubble. The image evokes a sense of grandeur and mystery, as if we were mentally touching a remote corner of the early universe.
