Quality counts in healthcare. A nurse is who I am, as much or more than what I do. That picture is an aperiodic monotile quilt I made in 2023.
And the worst thing is that they are profiting from foolish women and injured babies. As a sibling of an older adult with CP how could you risk that purposely? Unconscionable. We were grateful he lived, but to choose this?
I have so many feelings on this as a scrunchy mom who had friends pushing "freebirth" and judging me for having my 4 kids in hospitals with midwives. I would have bled to death 3-4 births and I'd have lost one child if I had done this "freebirth" madness.

Who knew! I am both a nurse and a quilter and have not heard of this technique. This study shows promise. I’m so glad it turned up in my #quiltsky feed

Masked ICE agents raided a church in NC on Saturday, causing fear in a place where everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome.

“We thought church was safe and nothing [was] gonna happen,” a 15-year-old witness said. “But it did happen.”

This must stop. 👇

Worth remembering that the Christian nationalism that fueled the empires in The Great War seeded Europe's turn away from Christianity for the next century.

Historically, Christian nationalism is the enemy of true faith. It is a false gospel whose fruits are known mostly in war.

I’m reposting this in case anyone is forgetting what it really is about. These things are the *what* that we should remember and act upon.

Some idiot in Wisconsin is trying to diss the older folks who were protesting by mocking the nickname "grantifa" -- one I wear proudly. If he thinks that's an insult, he's dumber than I thought. Grandmas will always oppose fascism.

In my stints of organizing some of the most dedicated people to the cause were religious people who felt compelled to the right thing through their faith. Our group held meetings at a Quaker Hall and our actions were often coordinated with local churches and the UU.
as the guy who organized a yom kippur service at occupy wall street that over a thousand people attended, i strongly agree
i think leftists who can't accomodate people of faith into their politics are really really making a profound mistake

Yeah - what’s up? I’ve tried blocking to no avail.
In the past 18 hours, spammers have posted junk Amazon links to #quiltsky at least 525 times that I counted, using four different handles. I have reported them repeatedly. I wish I could mass hide/ delete these posts when I block them. I wish BlueSky would block the Amazon and Temu link posts.

This is heartbreaking - not the least for the rest of the hard-working public health professionals at the CDC.
I’m not sharing this to scare people—though it’s fucking terrifying. I’m sharing it because we all need to be on guard.

We won’t be getting reliable data from the CDC anymore. Worse, the guidance could be harmful.

Dear journalists:

The President has not fired Lisa Cook. The President is *trying* to illegally fire her.

@hollybfletcher.bsky.social Hi - MK from Thailand here. A childhood friend and fellow MK sent me about your book. Wow. So much to think about and unpack. Everything you've said. Yes. Amen, really.

Thank you, Gina. I’m still meditating on this principle. What does my grief honor? Am I willing to pay the price of grief to ensure that the right things are honored?
Day 6: A week of grief and praise.
Sometimes the smoldering coals of sadness flare up.

Especially when hate is fueled by fear. It becomes a justified war. People forget that hate (and war) is morally wrong. The ends justify the evil means.
Hate is powerful. In fact it’s powerful enough to convince people to destroy the programs they benefit from, to give more money to the very rich, because they somehow believe it hurts the people they don’t like.
