This thread by Justin Ling says it all. “In Trump’s gangster economics, you never shake down a mark just once: You keep coming back.” We need to walk away from these “negotiations” and steel ourselves for some tough times to ensure our independence.
Trump is posting on Truth Social that he's terminating negotiations with Canada over a "fake" ad criticizing tariffs (that was run by Ontario, and which isn't fake.)
It's all theatre. There was never a deal to be gotten. Trump just wants to claim victory. #giftlink www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

When Carney acknowledged Poilievre's hard work on his campaign in his victory speed, the crowd of Liberals cheered.
When Poilievre mentioned Carney in his concession speech, there was loud booing.

- poilievre losing his seat complicates things & given all the bad blood & open internal feuding during the campaign an outbreak of Tory Syndrome seems likely
- future canadian elections seem likely to be fought over low-info big-mad voters (of all stripes) in a fractured + poisoned media landscape
