some helpful reminders:

-not all jews support israel
-criticizing israel is not the same as being antisemitic
-being pro-palestine does not equal being pro-hamas
-arresting someone for being pro-palestine is a violation of the first amendment
-violating someone’s first amendment rights is bad

that Trumpers think the US Postal *SERVICE* should be a profit-making enterprise exposes the fallacy in their conception of government

The Constitution gives Congress power to establish the U.S. Postal Service.

It did, by law, during the
Washington administration. Its status as an independent agency was established by Congress in law.

USPS is wildly popular with the American people and its service is essential and irreplaceable.
📬🚨 HUGE NEWS 📬🚨

Trump plans to fire the USPS governing board, merge the Postal Service into the Commerce Department.

It would disrupt 55 years of non-political mail service, and threatens to upend trillions of dollars of ecommerce and the 250 year-old US mail system.

Not trying to be annoying, but I think some random congressperson is going to have to get arrested trying to get into the federal buildings that DOGE is at if you want this crisis to break through to the front page. Each attempt to enter and getting orderly turned away doesn’t seem to be doing much.

I appreciate libraries as much as the next guy, but how is it that at any given moment there are like 3-5 semi-viral posts "reminding" everyone to make use of their local library on here? Maybe the most uniquely /Bluesky/ type of post so far.

We are in the midst of an administrative coup the like of which we have never seen - or even imagined - in our lifetimes.

Every day brings new abuses, new scandals, which can’t just be undone or fixed.

We are in a very dark place as a country and as a constitutional republic right now.

RIP to an endlessly inspiring artist and absolute legend
David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

The United States should seek to strengthen relations with China, not treat it as some kind of looming menace with whom World War III is an inevitability.

If We Want Humanity to Survive, We Must Cooperate With China
War between nuclear-armed powers should be unthinkable. The deterioration of U.S.-China relations threatens the whole world, and treating China as an enemy is suicidally deranged.

I really do believe AI is inherently fascist. Both the resources it takes to generate and the soullessness of its output render it entirely irredeemable, but it also hollows out any meaning we can get from communication and art and reduces human life to an aesthetic it wears like a skinsuit.

Millions of Americans — especially seniors, small businesses, and rural communities — rely daily on USPS's affordable rates and universal service.

Privatization would make the mail more expensive and less reliable — all to enrich the billionaire class.

We cannot let it happen.

More men need to tell us they've never been a fan of The Beatles. It shows an independence of thought but also profound intellectual insight; a refusal to run with the herd. I especially like to see it in response to someone expressing their love of the group. It's outspoken, contrary and brave.
