It’s one of many children’s books that appears heartwarming and sweet but is actually serious and subversive. Charlotte’s Web is a book about how friends can work together to protect each other from a more powerful oppressor who plans to destroy them for the money.

Recent family health issues have got me thinking about getting CPR certified.

Anyone out there that's done it and can give tips about what to look for or avoid when picking a class?

The part that stuck with me in the @thewaroncars.bsky.social book was when they highlighted a developmental psychologist who, in the 70's, wrote that a 6-yr-old should be capable of traveling solo 4-8 blocks to school, store, friends, playground, etc.

We've lost something important.

I successfully replaced a toilet last night. Granted, a 10 minute job took me an hour, but still, I'm basically Bob Villa now.

If anyone needs me, I'll be on my throne.

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.
SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

I grew up back when an armed movie character demanding "Papers, please" was a sure sign that the scene was taking place in a repressive police state. It feels surreal to be inside that setting now.
One of our friends is a naturalized US citizen from Korea. She is terrified and now carries copies of her naturalization papers wherever she goes. 😡😡😡
