In late 80s I was social worker in Houston working in Verification unit for food stamps. Made unannounced home visits to verify applicants were qualified &had reported all income etc. Unit was dismantled because cost more to run than were recovering. Very little fraud.So many myths/lies about SNAP

I keep coming back to this bit by Marc because it’s literally breaking things over a grievance he literally made up in his head, like this dude became a billionaire in his late 20’s entirely because of the institutions he now wants to destroy

It’s called hydroclimate whiplash: as global warming gets worse, we have longer dry periods and also, at the same time, more intense rain.
A ton of water (literal tons, usually) landing on parched earth is a bigger danger than the same amount in a reasonably hydrated system.
