Question for the "growth should pay for growth" pro-development charge crowd.

When the City of Ottawa has to pay billions widening roads to support commuters living in Carleton Place and Arnprior, who pays for that? Who should pay for that?

"To counter this despair, we need to redefine what it means to hope.

We need to cultivate the kind of hope that sustains action despite uncertainty — the kind that fuels long-term struggles for justice, even when victories are slow in coming."

"Keeping taxes low" is not the same as building an affordable city. Residents depend on well-funded public services and infrastructure to manage their expenses and for quality of life. I voted against the 2025 budget because I don't believe artificially low taxes serve anyone well.
The City of Toronto just introduced another large property tax increase. Their total tax increase over the past three years is more than double the rate in Ottawa.

I'm trying really hard to "let" AI in to my world, but this thread sums up how i feel about using generative AI (ChatGPT) to create. It's a great starting point if you're staring at blank page or need to summarize something, but you'll always need a human to polish it and make it enjoyable to read.
For over 2yrs MBA midwits have been promising investors an “AI driven” media model and there is zero examples of any being successful. Because “AI”’s ability to produce anything minimally readable without humans simply redoing the labor (eg writing it themselves) is a myth. It’s fake. It’s not real.
The $82.5 million sale of "Hot Ones" studio First We Feast is part of a broader strategy at BuzzFeed to shift away from human editors, writers and content producers in favor of artificial intelligence, which result in "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."
