In honour of Remembrance Day and as a tribute to Canada’s veterans, a new commemorative crosswalk has been added on Kent Street at MacLaren, across from the Legion. This is part of a national movement to recognize the sacrifices that veterans made on behalf of all of us.

I hope neighbours can join Elder Verna McGregor, Mayor Sutcliffe, Dave Allston and me to cut the ribbon on the new Papichì Park at the corner of Spencer and Huron on Saturday at 11. We'll have warm drinks and some short words. (Papichì is the Algonquin Inòdewiziwin word for Robin).

Today, Lansdowne 2.0 was passed with a 15 - 10 vote at Council. This is going to be an important issue in 2026, and I hope you'll stay engaged with Council in the coming months.

Lansdowne 2.0 is not what residents are telling us we need as a city. The cost is too much, the outcome too inadequate and uncertain, and the benefits accrue to too few. This morning's rally was energizing. We have an off-ramp; we should take it.

It was my pleasure to offer some remarks tonight at the City’s Urban Design and Heritage Awards. Congratulations to all the winners including the NCC’s Westboro Beach project!

I'd like to thank colleagues David Brown, Catherine Kitts and Riley Brockington who agreed to help community associations dry-run their zoning presentations with me in a mock committee meeting last night. It was fun!

I enjoyed the well-attended Champlain Park AGM last night. Residents are generous even as they grapple with zoning changes, increasing congestion and the imminent transformation at Tunney's Pasture. It all made for a busy agenda!

As economic uncertainty grows we need a city government that has everyone's backs to ensure affordability for all. That's @arieltroster.com's and my commitment as we approach the 2026 budget.

Face à l'incertitude économique, nous avons besoin d'une administration municipale qui soutienne tous les citoyens et garantisse une ville abordable pour tous. C'est l'engagement que @arieltroster.com et moi prenons à l'approche du budget 2026.

Thanks to everyone who attended our online budget consultation meeting last night. Both @jleiper.bsky.social and I heard you loud and clear: you want a city that works, one that is affordable and one where no one gets left behind.

Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.

I want Ottawa Charge fans to understand that if Lansdowne 2.0 goes through as-is, there’s a genuine threat that we’ll lose our women’s hockey team. This would be devastating to our city, and to all the women + girls who have found hope and community in the PWHL.

The Elgin and Laurier intersection is finally getting fixed. It should have happened years ago, after a cyclist was killed in 2019. And just this summer, Saloni Aitawadekar died after being hit by a pickup truck driver while she was crossing the street.

The Day of the Dead Festival in the Market has a spectacular lineup of acts this afternoon. Nat and I are going to probably catch some of the folkloric ballet at 1, and will absolutely not miss Los Paisanos and Flora Flores at 2:15 - they are so much fun. Really, though, the whole day looks amazing!
