They've got a turnout in the hundreds to the Harbour Harvest ice fishing derby at the Nepean Sailing Club this morning. I really enjoyed meeting organizer Dan Dubeau and @tkavanaghbayward.bsky.social to learn more and enjoy the day! harbourharvest.ca

My third and final rink stop today was in Convent Glen - Orleans Wood where I just was able to catch Cllr. Laura Dudas cutting the ribbon on their new boards! Some great conversation and hot chocolate with residents.

My second rink stop today was at Larkin Park where the West Barrhaven CA was hosting its carnival. Great to see Cllrs. David Hill and Wilson Lo in the thick of the festivities! There was chilli (Tyler Watt's got my vote for best)

An amazing day to visit some of the city's busy outdoor rinks! I started in Windsor Park where @shawnmenard.bsky.social was hosting the Capital Cup. Lots of familiar faces at the popular tournament.

Absolute joy today to celebrate the Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day combined at 1041. Tenants like Joan are some of my favourite people. Great to see @catmckenney.bsky.social, HCA, OCH and OWCS staff out supporting residents!

Yet another planning file to be aware of: the Granite club development is proposed to be re-configured as three shorter towers rather than two 40-storey towers.

A quiet public information session this evening to look at the Hilda and Manchester re-builds. It's a straightforward job on some small streets, but Hilda's unique width and proximity of homes to the right-of-way will make it a little challenging. Thanks to everyone who came out.

News from Tumbler Ridge and, this morning, from Kitigan Zibi, is horrifying. Our city's relationship with Kitigan Zibi is a close one. Gun violence involving children has resulted in overwhelming tragedy in the past 24 hours. There's immediate help available for those who want to talk (1/2).

There isn't a lot of publicly-owned land available to unlock for affordable housing as the sector is asking all levels of government to do, especially in prime residential areas like this. If Board finances are the issue, the answer is not a private sell-off but to properly fund education.
MPP, city councillor call foul after vacant OCDSB school goes up for sale

Thanks to the Westboro Village BIA for again inviting Sam Laprade, Melanie Brulée and I to judge the Stew Showdown for the Westboro Region Food Bank. Clocktower took the top prize with their take on an Irish stew - delicious! Always happy to see Jackie Holzman at so many of our community events.

Since midnight, we’ve responded to 3 carbon monoxide calls in homes due to high winds blowing snow and blocking exterior vents. One home recorded carbon monoxide readings of over 200 parts per million (PPM).

Please check your vents and clear snow away.

This is exciting. Probably the most consequential of any of the City's planning documents - the growth forecast - is now online and up for discussion at a February 18 joint committee meeting. Top line? 530,000 new residents by mid-2051.
