Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Police officers are killing more Americans than then they did five years ago when they killed George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Too many people have been deluded into believing the problem is the problem solvers, the perpetrators are the victims, and the treatment is the disease.

Instead of 401ks, how about just universal retirement? Or better yet, universal basic income? Why are we pretending like there’s scarcity in this country or this world — when there isn’t!?

If it’s about to all fall apart, then let’s remake it in OUR image. NOT theirs.

One of the disturbing reactions to the Mahmoud Khalil arrest is people making things up that he did to justify it that even the Trump admin doesn't claim he did. People just see him as the *type* of person who did the things they're mad about, so punishing him for it is acceptable. Lynching logic.

There has been a dramatic increase in both maternal and infant mortality in Texas - and most of these deaths are entirely preventable. The reality is that we have leaders who simply don't care as long as they can get more power while hypocritically claiming to care about life.
Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?
