Crows were originally white and sacred to Apollo who sent one to spy on his unfaithful lover, the mortal princess Coronis. When the crow returned with news of her infidelity, Apollo, in a fit of rage, scorched the bird's feathers, turning all crows black as punishment.

"Over the last 10,000 years or so, humans have overseen the wholesale replacement of native mammal communities with a very limited set of domesticated species."

We wake to mornings of cold magic. Exhale dragon-breath, crunch frost-frozen leaves as we walk. The year is dying. We feel it as rush of ghosts, a shivering that foretells the blade of ice upon its neck. No wonder this is the season where folklore burns bright. – #DAKilroy, 1982 #Folklore

A fox jumping over a tomb, jumping over the moon.
If you are lucky enough to witness such an event, you may choose to whisper important news to the fox:
the passing of a loved one, the birth of a child, the fall of tyrants.
The news will be passed on to the clan

1/2 According to Flemish folktales, Die Gnydige was a witch who could shapeshift into a cat. The villagers grew tired of her gatherings to which hundreds of cats came, and burned down her den. The felines walked unharmed through the flames and chased the men away.
