The changed code is a small fraction of an open source contribution. Your commitment to understand the issue, how your proposed solution fits with the project, and be ready to own and push the review process forward is the biggest chunk of the work. Your effort is the contribution, not the code.

I took a job in a warehouse "for now". Got good enough at it that I got to go out driving the truck making deliveries instead. The good times got fewer and further between, the pay got eaten up by inflation, workload increased to try to stay ahead of the competition, the pandemic slammed us... 1/.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Sure, AI is cool, but could it waste 20 minutes, confused and angry with tests that are failing because of a single typo? Checkmate AItheists.

My toxic trait is that I think I could probably make it to the final on Takeshi's Castle.

Wanting to cure autism is like wanting to cure freckles, or cure belly buttons, or cure disliking cilantro.

It is not the fault of autistic people that society has arranged itself in a way that doesn’t account for their needs.
Been saying for a whole decade, the message needs to be:

Vaccines don't cause Autisticness, and also Autistic people don't need to be prevented.
Screw Wakefield, but people viewing autism as a bad thing helped the fire spread.

@hankgreen.bsky.social Hank's Productivity/Focus app is great if, instead of procrastinating on social media, you'd like to procrastinate while looking at a knitting bean's arse, while listening to some pleasant music.

Just plucked up the courage to watch Louis Theroux's The Settlers.

It's impressive how candidly people will admit to committing war crimes, huh?

If you’re drawn to a politician because they promise to be cruel to Muslims or Jews or immigrants or gays or transgender people etc, the least you should do - the absolute, bare bones, still morally vacuous least - is ask yourself whether they’re likely to stop at the group you want to see targeted.

Night mode should be considered part of accessibility features when developing web apps. I'll die on this hill, squinting at unnecessarily bright screens.

@dropboxofficial.bsky.social please can you add a feature that saves my preferences for _all future file requests_?

The files I'm working with have the extension `.tar.gz` and the default settings shoehorn the uploader's name in the middle, breaking the file.
