She's right, darn it!
I love sewing. It just feels like magic to have something break and 15 minutes later it's fixed. Locking stitches are so easy and awesome by hand even when I'm loo lazy to pull out the machine.

I wish we still taught some kind of home econ that included sewing, cooking, budgets, and small repairs.
