The current federal government doesn’t care about preventing gun violence. It cares about asserting power. Just as gun violence numbers drop, reflecting real progress from recent efforts, the Trump administration makes yet another move that punishes success in support of their inane narratives.
The DOJ just disqualified frontline gun violence prevention nonprofits from lifesaving #CVI grants.

Americans bought an estimated 1.31 million guns in September 2025, according to an analysis of FBI data. This seasonally adjusted figure includes about 810,000 handguns and 500,000 long guns (rifles and shotguns).

I’m glad Kimmel is coming back on the air. I’m very nervous that the fascist government has practiced deploying the military to progressive strongholds and stifling free speech in the year before the midterm elections. Hope Kimmel comes out using the full strength of his newly restored podium.

Gun violence is horrific in all instances. It’s never something to celebrate. The ability to disagree without violence, to pursue progress without murder, and to experience discomfort without resorting to shooting someone are all vital to a functional democracy. We all need to be better than this.

In my job, thinking about gun violence is a constant. That can be lot. Days like today though, with kids dying less than a mile from where we lived in Minneapolis, hit particularly hard. Mindfully enjoyed every moment with my kids today.
