WATCH: "They are underwater across the board, and they know it. And that is causing them to double down in public. But it is backfiring. That is why—whether it's a shutdown, whether it's all of this—they want us to blink first. And we have too much to save," says AOC.

Brilliant 😂
Proud of this little act of resistance inspired by #seattletroublemakers and made with care in Seattle by an all-volunteer cast & crew. Big thanks to @alexwinter.com for the most excellent narration! And @laceyleavittgray.bsky.social for asking me to direct! 🙏 #teslaregretsyndrome #crewtopia

Sharing APSAC's 2022 position statement, "Gender-Affirming Care Is Not Child Abuse," as a counter to yesterday's abhorrent presidential proclamation.

So proud of my senator. So grateful for his ability to speak so passionately for so long. So inspired. We are at a crossroads. “Don’t hate each other.” ❤️🇺🇸❤️

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

1. Finally some fight.

"Have you no decency!?" asked Rep. Keating after a Republican rep called Sarah McBride "Mr. McBride" repeatedly.

McBride shot back, calling the chairman "Madam Chairman."

Fireworks erupted, Dems protested, and the hearing was cancelled.

"Have You No Decency?": Republican Calls Sarah McBride "Mister," Dems Erupt And End Hearing
During a meeting of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, a Republican representative, Rep. Keith Self, called transgender congresswoman the "gentleman from Delaware." Dems pushed back.

The US Department of Education has created a form to snitch on schools implementing DEI policies. Wouldn’t it be terrible it were flooded with snarky “reports?” Not saying that YOU should do that or anything… 🙃

Many don’t realize that access to gender-affirming care in NJ is currently only protected by executive order. Help us work toward ensuring these important protections are codified into law in 2025.

I made some calls today. Actually got to speak to a real person, too, which was nice. It feels good and grounding to be doing something productive.

Make a plan to get on the phone with your lawmakers today. Take it day by day, one issue at a time. It matters. @5calls.org

Wired is offering an annual digital subscription for $5USD right now.

Worth it just for their coverage of US politics this week, tbh. And, if they see a surge of subs as a result of this coverage, they WILL do more of it.

Elon Musk’s DOGE Is Still Blocking HIV/AIDS Relief Exempted From Foreign Aid Cuts
The Trump administration claims it is allowing “lifesaving” foreign aid to continue, but in reality, DOGE is preventing vital work on HIV and AIDS from saving lives.

As Trump tries to dismantle the Department of Education, remember that his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15% would give the 100 largest corporations a tax cut larger than the entire department's K-12 budget.

Really think about how twisted this all is.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

If you’re a straight, cis person who has ever posted some version of a rainbow with “you’re safe with me” or similar, it’s time to back up the words with action— contact your reps and ask them what they’re going to do to protect trans people from this administration, particularly trans kids.

"Volunteer for an LGBTQ+ charity" has been my todo list for a few months; and now I'm furious at both this administration and my own laziness. So I signed up for an info session regarding volunteering for the @hrc.org. You can too, just put in your zip code to learn more (no login required).

Trying to remember this as I sort out putting one foot in front of the other these past couple days, disoriented and wondering what it is I’m “supposed” to be doing…
Every act of courage matters now.

Don't leave it to someone else - an authority, someone with power. You need to be brave.

We always spoke of everyday kindness. What we need now is everyday courage.
