Good point, @nellstra.bsky.social my response to this, though, is that things change really fast. It feels too early to start planning for how to deal with that situation. I would love to hear what other people think, however
I haven't seen any discourse so far about the AHA conference and ICE activity. That being said, I'm tagging some people who I think are going to AHA... @benjaminhjohns1.bsky.social @micnick.bsky.social @drmendozan.bsky.social @cjdenial.bsky.social

This is a great thread. And it it comes from the great
State of New Jersey
Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey.

They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧵

was recently told by a scholar of some note that it was out of bounds to compare trump's purge of black people from the federal government to wilson's efforts to resegregate the federal bureaucracy
1/2 Just-dismissed Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, has a PhD from U Chicago, is in numerous scholarly societies, has wide acclaim. She is also first African-American to lead LoC.

The dismissal note did not say "Dear Dr. Hayden" or "Dear Madame Librarian" or even "Dear Carla."

Since there's not much going on in the Catholic world, I thought it'd be a good time to make my debut as a contributor to Catholic Women Preach. Get ready with me for Good Shepherd Sunday! www.catholicwomenpreach.org/preaching/05...

I wonder if some of the Cardinals voted kind of like Canadians… Where #PopeLeoIV was sort of like an anti-Trump vote?

They can rant about woke science, but the truth is that people are interested in cures, discoveries, and breakthroughs. If American researchers are not doing it, the $$ and the treatments will move outside our borders.

The only thing standing between voters and voter suppression is the U.S. Senate. If 60 Senators vote for the SAVE Act, millions of voters will be disenfranchised and we're headed down the path of one-party-rule. We can't let that happen. Call your Senator or message now: bit.ly/4hZ7B…

This is good news. But reporters, please stop just repeating that this task force has anything to do with stopping antisemitism. It is about closing universities and about fomenting antisemitism.

I have been wondering this myself
Is Kilmar Abrego Garcia alive? Because the amount of resistance to addressing his being trafficked gives the distinct impression that either he is dead or what they have done to him is so unspeakable that they cannot afford for him to be freed, seen, or spoken with.
