A reminder that seven years ago almost to the day, the CIA determined that Mohammed Bin Salman ordered the killing of @washingtonpost.com journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

I hired and worked with Jamal for a year.

Our city council election just flipped the R incumbents up for election to Ds. The council prez (R) who liked to bully council members not in his camp resigned the day after. A female member who stood up to the bullies was censured 2x but served out her terms. Courage vs cowardice

Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

I love Slow Horses for many reasons, but finding out on Ep 3 when Jackson Lamb says he’s going to take a “Donald”, he meant a massive dump 💩 in UK slang was fantastic
(Also that in UK, a politer term for a fart is a “trump” 💨)

@timothysnyder.bsky.social You stated to anticipate a crisis this summer that the administration would exploit to their advantage, i.e, a “Reichstag fire” moment. Does the Charlie Kirk murder meet that criteria? How can we protect the rule of law in these circumstances?

“He cheated on the golf course…
He cheated on his taxes…
He cheated on his wives…
He cheated on democracy…”

But then came the mic drop 👇

They're literally burning food because they didn't want to give it to starving black and brown people.
The administration will incinerate enough food to feed 1.5 million children for a week. When it burns, its label will read: THIS PRODUCT IS A GIFT FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. 500 tons, from us, to no one.

The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I reread it today; nothing in the law allows a president to defund PBS and NPR. In fact, Congress specifically sought to insulate public media from political pressure.

Al Gore didn’t hold back: The Trump admin is “attacking the heart of truth,” twisting facts like the Nazis did in the 1930s. From climate denial to rewriting the Ukraine war, it’s all about power—not reality.
Gore warned the U.S. is under siege—and every former leader should speak out like he did.
