Slashing federal funding for #Medicaid will devastate state budgets. It will also significantly weaken states' credit ratings. That will sharply increase the cost of borrowing and make it harder to finance infrastructure and other capital investments: #healthpolicy ccf.georgetown.edu/2025/01/22/c...

With Congress contemplating huge cuts to Medicaid our new brief with the Healthy Schools campaign underscores how these cuts would threaten student success in school.

Health has a profound effect on how well children do in school.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Medicaid Facts: #Medicaid serves a vital countercyclical, economic stabilizer role during recessions. When unemployment rises and state tax revenues fall, federal Medicaid funding rises in response as more people become eligible if they lose their jobs & job-based coverage. #healthpolicy

This is how to do it, kids: Home insurance is now a climate story. Put it on the front, and put "climate change" at the top. Especially now that deniers will control the federal and state government.

We’re going to need our science & health journals, our universities, & our health & science academies to STEP UP

They need to stop being risk-averse

They need to champion science & evidence in the face of Trump’s relentless attacks

His picks to lead the health agencies are ghastly & terrifying

Q: Where do the largest shares of Americans get their health insurance through the Affordable Care Act #Obamacare Marketplaces?

A: In Southern red states

Texas has the worst uninsured rate in the country. Cutting Medicaid would increase pressure on emergency services, and drive up uncompensated care costs—ultimately straining the healthcare system and the state economy. Resilient communities and economies need healthcare access.

CBS Evening News needs to stop sugar-coating bad news. Per: RFK Jr. in charge of US public health, they said PH experts are "alarmed" (no, horrified) & that RFK spreads "misleading" information (no, lies). They then quoted RFK saying that "no vaccine is safe and effective."

This is how we go down.
