Incoming Dutch government to continue support for Ukraine, pledges €3 billion in military aid for 2027–2029
The Netherlands plans to continue military and financial support for Kyiv over the next several years and will push for the use of frozen Russian assets.
The incoming Dutch coalition government plans to provide Ukraine with €3 billion in military aid in 2027-2029, according to the coalition agreement between the D66, CDA and VVD parties, RBC-Ukraine reports .
The coalition led by the liberal D66 party also sets aside about €400 million for other security priorities. The document says the Russia-Ukraine war is a security issue for all of Europe, so the Netherlands will continue military and financial support for Kyiv and will advocate using frozen Russian assets.
“Ukraine is moving irreversibly toward EU and NATO membership, with the pace determined by its own merits and compliance with criteria. The Netherlands provides support where possible,” the agreement states.
Funding will be split across channels: the Defense Ministry will handle military support, while non-military aid will come from the Dutch budget line for foreign trade and development cooperation.
Earlier, the defense minister also said the Netherlands announced €250 million for the PURL initiative.
