If you’re looking for primers on federal law, the Congressional Research Service is an excellent resource—balanced, accurate, and clear. Here’s its paper on recess appointments.

Listen we know he can't keep appointees more than a year or so before he fires them, so assuming he is started ng at the top of his list and working his way down....

We're fucked

Listen it's all fun and games until he nominates Kid Rock for HHS and Hogan for Homeland Secretary.

What's the over / under on Alito and/or Thomas sending a retirement letter before June?

This is why the recess appointments gambit is so significant:

It's very possible that Hegseth *couldn't* get 50 votes even from the Senate we'll have in 2025. But there's a *big* difference between 50 votes for Hegseth and 50 votes to adjourn.

Every time Trump wants to go campaign somewhere he’s going to need to ask his probation officer for permission to leave the state and personally I think that’s pretty great

Seriously, though, if you're a lawyer or journalist who covers litigation and *don't* have the RECAP chrome extension, use CourtListener, and donate to the Free Law Project, what's the matter with you?

This is my shocked face.....
Ton of revealing new details in this, including that the number of people actively tweeting has dropped by more than 30%: "Elon Musk’s version of free speech was for him and his friends to be able to do hate speech without getting in trouble" www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
A year later, Musk’s X is tilting right. And sinking.
The billionaire bought Twitter to revive its business and make it less “woke.” He has achieved only one of those goals.

Trump's Motions to Dismiss Things That Aren't the Charges Against Him - emptywheel
In four motions to dismiss the indictments (or the most inflammatory parts of them) against him, Trump dodges the actual crimes charged against him.

Proposed Florida rule bans public univ activities "intended to achieve a desired result related to social issues," defined as "topics that polarize or divide society among political, ideological, moral, or religious beliefs, positions, or norms." USF lawyer: "I can’t think of anything that doesn't."
Florida rule would limit talk of ‘social issues’ at public universities
Critics say a proposed regulation is too broad and could inhibit free speech.
