As I am now handling papers at AEJ:Policy again, I want to encourage authors of papers that identify partial equilibrium effects to consider (in a rigorous manner) how they relate to policy effects or general equilibrium effects.

Important non-curricular insights about thriving in academia from stellar @econsandy.bsky.social
I was incredibly honored to be awarded the CSWEP Carolyn Shaw Bell Award. When I accepted the award, I talked about the importance of mentoring.

The lessons I pass on are kind of obvious. But they are important, so I am going to share them yet again. (A🧵)

Next step, we really want to understand better why employment of newly arrived refugees is historical high? And will it last? Labor demand is part of it and maybe we are getting some policies right too
The employment Level for newly arrived refugees breaks all records in Denmark - and at similar Level as for Ukranians.

New brief analysis (in Danish):

The world now has one more excellent PhD in economics of migration. Congrats @katiagallegost.bsky.social
I successfully defended my PhD 🥳🥂. I couldn't have asked for a better supervisor @andreassteinmayr.net. You are the best :).

Big thanks to @mettefoged.bsky.social who was my 2nd reviewer and Markus Walzl (cmte. memb.).

Reskilling moves injured workers from disability benefits to full-time employment. Reskilling subsidies pay for themselves four times over, and current rates of reskilling are substantially below the social optimum.

Paper now conditionally accepted at AER 🎉

JMP from @annahasselqvist.bsky.social analyzing an interesting interaction between education policy and traditional gender norms
#econsky #econjmp #econ #jmp

I am on the #econjobmarket this year!

My JMP focuses specifically on second-generation migrant girls. How does education policy impact them as they grow up in a highly egalitarian society, yet within families that have migrated from more gender-traditional origins?

Incredibly bad news for Economics in Germany. It was such a coup to attract a young superstar (from MIT!) to run one of our leading research institutes. I can’t believe we are losing him and all the potential he brought to IZA.
