This is incredibly sad and a massive loss for the profession. IZA was my home for 5 years during which I met many wonderful people. I still have many friends there and am very sorry for them.
It's a very sad day. Just notified that @iza.org is closing its doors as of 31 December 2025. At a time when labor is under attack and technological change moves at an ever-faster pace, I can't help but think that this is a short-sighted decision. My heart goes out to those folks who work there.

I am very happy to share that I have been promoted to Professor of Economics at UCD.
It has been quite a journey, and I'm deeply grateful to family, friends, colleagues, and mentors who provided invaluable support over many years. I'll pay forward for sure. #firstgen

Things start to heat up over here. Keep it coming!
Not so fast, my friend... There is a whole world out, even within the narrow focus on FEs. And there is a whole world of estimators given FEs.
OLS and Fixed Effects are all you need for 99% of metrics.

So far, the #econsky experience is fun. 1) "Oh, such and such is here as well" 2) A bunch of economists trying to solve a collective action problem by writing "Are we really doing this now?"; really means "Is this time different or are we doing Mastodon again?"
