Thanks to my fellow #MGPie @kristiwrite.bsky.social, I have slowly started working to develop my villain's backstory in my spooky, action/adventure #MG.

Hi, #kidlitchat! It's been quite a while, but I'm excited to rejoin you all. The past three months I have been really struggling to finish my #MG adventure. I am soooo close, but I have been dealing with some stuff, so I haven't finished. Soon, though. And waiting on answers from being out on sub.
TOPIC: It's quarterly check-in time at #kidlitchat! Four times a year, we share what we've been up to (career-wise) for the past three months, and look ahead to the next three. (And just hanging in there totally counts!)

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance, a day to honor lives lost to anti-trans violence.

Books are a powerful tool for empathy, so I'm resharing this @lgbtqreads.bsky.social page—use it to find great #mglit with trans MCs: https://buff.ly/3qh5DgW

It pains me to say that my characters in my #MG are waiting for me to figure out a plot point involving a map.

Still.
It's been a looooong time. Almost there, everyone!

It's been wonderful to see Bluesky veterans out there helping guide newcomers or those just coming back! This made all the difference to me when I first joined.

A shoutout to @doucette515.bsky.social, for example. Also, check her Replies tab - so engaging and encouraging and helpful!

Pleased to say a past version of me (circa 8 months ago) thought through the plot revisions of my spooky #MG novel. Not only thought through but actually made the edits.
So now that current me (circa July 2024) went in thinking there's SO much work to do, past me already took care of it?

I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm happy to see the #KidLit community growing and thriving. I am working on edits to my spooky #MG to keep my mind off the endless waiting of being on sub. What's everyone else up to?

Big news!
I have an agent!
Thanks to wonderful @michelle4laughs.bsky.social from Storm Literary.

Goodreads removed the entire Childrens/Middle Grade category from their Goodreads Choice Awards. And Graphic Novel. And Poetry.

Would you mind taking a minute to vote for MG, PB, and NIV to be made their own categories for the award here?

Tip: I hear it's easier to vote from a laptop than a phone.
