Light & Shadow

I love the secret feature at Nine Elms London Underground station that reveals itself during a sunny day.

If you arrive at the perfect moment, the roundel logo is beautifully projected onto the floor.

So I took Dancer Andreya with me to interact with the scene.

It won't just be Colbert. The Daily Show is next.

Colbert was the the highest rated late night show host. The message is: Emmy's, ratings, and name recognition won't save you. You criticize the oligarchs and this administration, your show is done.

The superpower of the American university system has been its ability to attract the world's best students and researchers.

Heaven knows, its success is not because of the US public education system.

Exclude foreign talent, and the US research ecosystem will crumble.
The US Administration has indefinitely blocked *all* student visa applicants from getting a visa interview.

Worldwide, unconditional, no end date. All.

International students are crucial to the US university system, American innovation, and future US prosperity.
Rubio Reportedly Pauses New International Student Visa Interviews

I don't see what all the fuss is about. All US businesses have to do is build a few tens of thousands of factories and then hire and train 10 million specialised workers who'll be willing to work for $3 an hour.

Should take 6 weeks, tops. 3 if they use ChatGPT.

@yury.molodtsov.me I saw your recent blog post about the sorry state of web browsers - it’s an accurate assessment IMHO.

A few glimmers of hope…

Trump's official denouncement of former CISA head Chris Krebs is chilling in substance and utterly Stalinesque in tone. By threatening anyone who hires him, it aims to render Krebs effectively unemployable.

We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado.

11,000 people showed up.

Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.

So far, up to 15x faster escape analysis for the Go compiler when compiling the TS checker package.

End to end that's an 8x faster compiler of the checker package for us, bringing it down from 50 seconds to 6 seconds.

TIL, in #vim (or #neovim) you can indent the current line *while in insert mode* with Ctrl-T and dedent it with Ctrl-D.

I've used Vim for decades and have always switched to Normal mode and used << and >>. This is so much better!

I went to see the excellent production of Strictly Ballroom at the Court Theatre last night. As is typical when going to the theatre in #chch #nz the average age of the audience was somewhere north of 70.

Are younger people just not interested or are boomers the only ones with disposable income?
