Shadow Walk

Another photo taken at one of my favourite locations on the London Underground tube map.

If the sun is out, and in the correct position at Nine Elms station, it can project beautiful shadows of the London Underground roundel on to the station floor.

I love hunting for special views. This vantage point from Canons Park Underground Station lets you capture trains framed by the distant Arch of Wembley Stadium.

I was so pleased with the outcome that I made the photo the front cover of the Tube Mapper project 2026 calendar

Vintage Trains On The Metropolitan Line

Here's a little video from my visit to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. The museum is on the site of Quainton Road Station, which was once part of the Metropolitan line. Here are some photos from my visit.

Photography from my 2026 Calendar

I always feel nostalgic when I buy paper train tickets. Since I had a few tickets at home, I decided to make a couple of paper dancers inspired by an old advert by Southeastern Railway.

UNDER, OVER

My hunt to find locations where you can see Underground trains traveling over Overground trains continues.

This vantage point near South Kenton station has views of tube trains traveling over the overground, underground & national rail. I waited 50mins for this shot

I had a sneak preview of the new exhibition at the London Transport Museum. It's called Art deco: the golden age of poster design

It opens to the public on Friday 21st November.

My favourite poster is Theatres by Verney L Danvers in 1926

Symmetry - Leicester Square

I love the shapes and leading line looking down the stairs at Leicester Square London Underground station.

Thank you driver for making my kids day!

Out of the Darkness

Photo of a Docklands Light Railway train exiting the tunnel and arriving at Island Gardens Station. I love how the lights paint the track in the darkness & especially enjoy the arching light framing the tunnel.

Note: Taken safely from behind the yellow line.

Spiraling - Caledonian Road

When possible, I always love walking up and down spiral staircases at London Underground stations. These can usually be located in the emergency exit, or can sometimes be hidden deep in the station.

I love the colours at Caledonian Road Station.

MOSAIC UNDERGROUND ROUNDELS

Short video featuring the beautiful mosaic roundels that you may have spotted as you travel around the Overground. I met up with artist Maud to see the new Roundels at Acton Central designed by her + people in the surrounding community..

Ha, someone shared this house looking over a nature reserve and right next to a train line.

Here's the Rightmove listing (no I'm not getting commission) but perhaps I should hunt down the best railway house in the UK

NOV / ST PAUL'S
Photography from my 2026 Calendar

So this was lucky! As I took a photo of this symmetrical scene at St Paul’s, people rushed through to catch the train. When editing at home, I was excited to discover I’d captured a hat man perfectly central in the composition.

Absolutely love the way the light interacts with the architecture at Nine Elms London Underground station.

Reaching for the weekend !

I love this futuristic looking blue tunnel at London Bridge tube station. One day I will capture some sci fi cosplayers here.

It was also a fun background for dancer Viola, here's a photo of her interacting with the scene.

My wife usually laughs about some of the London Underground items I collect, but I think she'll like this one!

Tunnel Vision - Oxford Circus

The poster advertisements on the walls can completely change the look and atmosphere of the passenger tunnels. Here's a photo taken at Oxford Circus London Underground station

Red Light District Line

Ok so this shot is not taken on the District Line, I just really liked the pun so I went for it 😁!

This was taken at Warren Street, I love the reflection of the red light in the tunnel as the train leaves the station

Curved London Underground platforms can sometimes have great views of approaching trains.

This was certainly true at Fulham Broadway station when watching trains arrive from the end of the platform.
