I’m of the opinion there’s a point where higher fidelity hurts the overall experience for most games. For me, more stuff on screen makes it harder to parse through what’s important and what isn’t.
i enjoy aaa games with fancy new graphics, and i don't really care for the most part about actively Retro graphics. but for me a sweet spot is like, ~2010 aaa "considered very realistic at the time" graphics. splinter cell conviction. sleeping dogs. hitman absolution. NOT max payne 3 that's too late

Just watched a trailer for amazons new war of the worlds, and based on the trailer it looked like an extended ad for Microsoft teams than an actual movie

Finally getting back around to playing FF7 rebirth. There is no reason FF7 needed to be split up into 3 parts. There is so much padding in areas where you spend a fraction of a fraction of the time in the original. It’s like the video game equivalent of the hobbit movies

As much as we wish it wasn’t, a lot of #gamedev is just finding your way in the dark. Directions that felt like complete dead ends (or even the right way!) have to be re-evaluated all the time.

So I keep seeing these starter kits every so often with lists of people to follow, but is there a way to search for these? I saw one last week, naively thought “I’ll check that out later” and now it’s seemingly gone forever

I’m going back to work next week after being on paternity leave for the past 4.5 months. That’s a weird feeling until I realize that it’ll be my first time working in office in 3.5 years which feels weird, but the studio has also moved to a new location which feels weird…

Really wish game pass would show when a game in the ‘leaving soon’ section was actually leaving. A bit annoying to have to google and skim some random blog to find relevant info
