🧵Jonas Salk's son, Jonathan, was a neighbor and good friend of mine.

I spent many nights hearing about polio and how it had crippled America.

His father was old by then, but I've never forgotten the many stories they shared of the terror and death that had raced through our nation.

Folks ask what keeps me up at night? Lately, it’s been the thought of what happens when machines are tasked with making life and death decisions.

I continue to explore the impact of AI on national security, from autonomous weapons to deepfakes.

Very cool. Literally.
Denmark just flew 5 people over 300 km in an all-electric plane—in under an hour. ⚡✈️ It recharged in 30 mins and emitted zero CO₂. It’s not just a test—it’s step one in Denmark’s bold plan: 100% fossil-free domestic flights by 2030. The skies are changing. #ElectricFlight #Denmark #EVaviation #EVTOL
The future of flight? First electric aeroplane lands in Denmark
The plane can be charged using a standard fast charger for electric cars in just 20 to 40 minutes, the company says. Experts say airports will need to gradually expand charging infrastructures for electric aircraft.

It's not every day the car industry makes this so transparent, but, put a fine point on it:

The US government is controlled by carmakers, who understand with existential clarity that walkable housing + transit threatens their profits.

And so, Federal government transfers money from homes, to cars.
House GOP released proposed appropriations for FY 2026 for housing & transportation, proposing:
—$2 b increase in highway funds—but a $1.8 b cut in transit spending, essentially eliminating new grants for transit lines.
—$900 m decrease in housing funds, including no new funds for the HOME program.

Let me tell you what happens when profit runs hospitals & you show up pregnant—in pain.

Bryanna Baker was 24. She went to 2 different hospitals in New Mexico w/crushing chest pain. One said it was pregnancy discomfort. The other called it morning sickness.

She was having a massive heart attack.

Karma. She's quick. Here's looking at you, Murkowski.
Lisa Murkowski and John Thune deserve this. Trying to exempt Alaska from odious parts of this bill to buy her vote is overruled by parliamentarian. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

Absolutely no one is casting aspersions on the B2 bomber pilots. Nor should they. The mission was accomplished with accuracy, professionalism and safety. So why is the current administration accusing the media of not giving credit to the courageous pilots?

I think that the outcome in the NY Mayoral race and the Wisconsin Supreme Court race both show that people power CAN beat the political money machine. That should give us all hope, and the motivation to work for the government we want.

*sigh*

If you live in a major city, particularly if you're an expat in Europe or Southwest Asia, it's time to brush up on your antiterrorism force protection basics.

Avoid unnecessary large gatherings or major public venues.

Vary your routes.

Be wary of public transportation.

We must change the false narrative into harsh reality: A moron President and a drunk Secretary of Defense has taken good soldiers from training and transformed them into a bunch of under equipped, under fed, hapless yutzes who have now been assigned to the stupidest duty in the world.
