"YouGov has ICE at 39% favorable, 52% unfavorable...But this top line really understates the intensity of public backlash to ICE and its tactics. In February 2025, just 19% of Americans held a strongly unfavorable view of ICE. Today, 40% do."

In the pantheon of White House demons, Vance is now lumped in with the likes of Stephen Miller, Pete Hegseth and Kristi Noem, and there’s no scrubbing out that kind of stain.

Vance is still the same cruel, charisma-challenged suck-up whom the public first met, and quickly winced at, back in 2024.

Shaming and spreading lies about a murder victim isn’t something that sits well with the “normies” who make up the electorate. Vance may feel he needs to act as awful as he can to own the libs like a right-wing edge lord to secure the support of the MAGA base and the far-right Groypers.

Footage reveals Good may not have been there to “interfere with” any ICE enforcement action at all. Her vehicle arrived 4 minutes before ICE was on the scene. She was only there as a “legal observer” of ICE abuses. In the video, cars can be seen passing by Good’s vehicle without incident.

PORTLAND

Per the witness, the shots were fired as the vehicle drove away—contradicting the notion of “self-defense.”

Prior to Trump, American presidents scrupulously avoided commenting on the guilt of people accused of committing federal crimes. The statements by Trump, Vance, and Noem violate long-standing democratic norms and principles of fairness in the administration of justice.

The FBI’s stonewalling reeks of bad faith and cover-up. 3 senior administration officials—Trump, JD Vance, and Noem—declared Renee Good to be a domestic terrorist and the aggressor in the confrontation.

NEW: Once upon a time, mail voting was a bipartisan reform aimed at making voting more accessible. Post Trump, it’s now an ideological battle line between Democrats and Republicans. But a new USPS rule change risks harming voters from both parties, @marcelias.bsky.social writes.

Grijalva: I can't think of any other situation with any other president that we'd have so many people blindly believing a narrative that we can clearly see is inaccurate.

The DOJ admitted it would violate near-unanimous, bipartisan legislation requiring it to publish all of its documents on convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. It has only released less than 1% of the files, ensuring it will stay in violation for a long time.

At the same time the administration was pouring gas on the domestic fire ICE had sparked and the international fire it had set with its attacks on Venezuela and threats against Greenland, it was quietly making a number of financial moves

Get the f*ck out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite. People are being hurt. Families are being ripped apart…and now somebody is dead.

DHS and Trump posted false accounts of the shooting even as there are 4 videos that reveal that those accounts are lies. They are demanding Americans abandon reality in favor of whatever the administration says.

Trump is working with frenetic urgency to do his worst in the shortest time possible. He is doing so because he knows that his unlawful reign depends on a corrupt, complicit, cowardly GOP with control of Congress. Once that advantage disappears, he will be diminished and weakened.

The House GOP retreat is a loyalty seminar where dissent is pathologized, obedience is sanctified, and legislators are sorted into groups of affection and contempt. Trump boasted about shaming members who require persuasion and praising the dead for voting with him 100% of the time

As we begin 2026, a new development threatens to undermine voting by mail. A recent rule change at the USPS means that postmarks will no longer reflect the date a piece of mail was deposited at a local post office. Instead, postmarks will be applied at a regional processing facility.
