I have 4 boxes: USB, Ethernet, power, and Other. There’s a very high likelihood I have what you’re looking for.
Bluesky, how big is your box of old cables? If you know you know.

Watching Ken Burns while the baby sleeps beside me on the couch gives incredible dad powers.

Our local Italian place has “fat boys” which are pretty much just sliced up Stromboli, but they slap HARD. Cheese+two toppings, served with marinara and ranch.

I can recall a bigger sacrifice.

Bowling Alone has been the most eye opening book I’ve read. In short: we used to do stuff now we don’t. It’s a horror story disguised an academic work.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Saw them do this live in Richmond, a room full of white people ascended into nirvana
It's the fiftieth anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking, memorialized in Gordon Lightfoot's song. Here's the haunting bluegrass version by the Punch Brothers.

Friends, though I have never seen it, I know that It's Academic is one of the bedrock layers upon which the trivia/quiz bowl community is built, especially in the DC Metro Area. Please consider helping if you can.

Dixieland Delight is about Maryland. A Dixieland Mason-Dixon night can’t really happen anywhere else.

Finally finished the jewelry box for my wife for Mother’s Day. I embedded the Scorpius constellation in the top in brass stock. The baby can come any time now.

Easy, that’s Norton, VA.
What is the smallest place you consider a city?

Lysenkoism but for defense tech.
Trump: "They spent $900,093,000 on the catapults trying to get them to work. And they had steam, which worked so beautifully and it has for 50 years, right? So we're gonna go back. Seriously fellas, I want to make that change. I'm gonna do an executive order."

Shoutout to the fans in Blacksburg. It’s freezing cold, 11:30PM, and this football team has been hot garbage since September

I liked our odds for getting 3 yards there vs stopping them next OT, not sure why we didn’t go for it

There was a VP that the production workers called FIGJAM (short for Fuck I’m Good Just Ask Me) that the whole plant hated. When he got canned, the whole engineering team shared a round of gin our boss had been saving in his desk just for that occasion.
Enough about Work Husbands and Work Wives.

You ever had a legitimate Work Enemy? Because I’ve had several. I never start with these people and I always warn them. But they never listen. 🫠

Basically any song covered by a bluegrass band, but for discussion’s sake I’ll say Fox on the Run by the Country Gentleman. It sounds perfect, no idea why it was originally recorded by Manfred Mann, a 1970s British rock band.
Without saying Hurt, fav Cover Song?

Wes Durham is a consummate professional and sounds just like an ACC play-by-play guy should. That he’s paired with Addazio on a broadcast is a crying shame, that dude is dumb as rocks.

One of my coworkers is an Australian that came to the US for the first time to WVTech on a golf scholarship. Your first introduction to America being Beckley, WV had to be a crazy culture shock.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

Johnson City, Kansas is an embarrassment to the word city and truly the armpit of America. Only place my boss apologized for sending me to, and I spent 3 weeks in Minot, ND. I know about crappy cities.
What’s the worst city you’ve visited?

I’ll never go back to Myrtle Beach SC if somebody paid me
