Barely a vaguepost because this happens constantly but I just don't feel like you can put out a submission call for "extreme horror" specifically and then list a bunch of things you don't want in it that you find too far. especially if those things are frequent in the genre

You don’t have to take HRT or get surgeries to be trans, but remember that the anti-trans movement is moving mountains to try and prevent your access to those things—pursuing medical transition in one form or another is a subversive act, not a conformist one.

I find it totally unbearable when a genre story stops dead to have some fantasy princess be like "pronouns are important!" in the most straightforward internet-speak terms possible. On a craft level it destroys momentum and believability, and socially, you aren't reaching anyone that way.

I think a lot of (cis) people simply do not understand that being trans isn’t just a sex thing. The idea that one might transition to be happy (and not purely for sexual gratification) legitimately doesn’t occur to them.
