Did he have a warful wedded life?
Cherishable fact that I just learned from a biography of Vaughan Williams: when he was first married, the ceremony was performed by none other than the famous Reverend Spooner.

I wonder if it was followed by a performance of the Sondon Lymphony, or possibly even his opera The Koisoned Piss.

Many happy returns! TPTV has perfectly filled the British thrillers of the 1950s-shaped hole in my life.
It's our🎂10th birthday!
In that time that's over 5,000 feature films, shorts & TV series. Talking of TV, that's over 6,000 episodes of 250 series. That's a lot of classic film & TV! We promise lots more to come! Thank you for the support, you lovely lot!

Hilarious question. The only notable outside visitor from my schooldays was when the police came round to lecture us on the consequences after half the fifth form had a mass brawl with the school up the road.
Emergency Questions

133. Who is the most impressive celebrity that ever came to your school?

For reasons that are lost to the ages, that I couldn't figure out at the time and can't in retrospect, Ian St. John. He just sort of laughed at his own jokes in assembly then vanished.

I liked Conclave (2024) enough to write a micro review.
Ralph Fiennes finds himself reluctantly in charge of the election of a new pope. Cue much atmospheric intrigue and shenanigans…

I took out a subscription to @newscientist.bsky.social because I needed more reading material during Covid lockdown and kept it up because it’s better science journalism than you get in a newspaper. But I’m starting to spot patterns in the stories…

Coins for Edward VIII were never minted, but one of the artists they approached came up with a wild cubist design.

I’m very lucky to live in a city with multiple treasure troves to visit. But at a loss to understand why the Ashmolean acquired this monstrosity.

With Haigh's departure from the cabinet, for the first time in our political history, the cabinet is 100% state educated. Quite the moment.

I have both books and highly recommend them. I found the puzzles in the first volume harder so maybe do them in reverse order if you’re buying both.

This is a distraction.

Misdirection so that you skip past the true ethical issues of stolen IP, environmental issues, the fate of those who will lose their jobs, and basic cui bono.
