A shout out for my darlst’s Patreon. I joined her this week for a deep dive on Oz Perkins horror, Longlegs. Great content for less than the price of a coffee from an evil empire business. www.patreon.com/c/confession...

Architectural Digest videos but it’s the homes of people with ADHD. “Come in … here’s the half finished flooring in the living room, here’s the bedroom we didn’t decorate, here’s the garden that hasn’t been mowed in 4 years because we pretend it doesn’t exist, all because overwhelm.”

Working my way through the documentary films of Fred Wiseman. Every one I’ve seen so far is extraordinary. God level documentary filmmaking.

I have so many wonderful film-going memories of the PCC
We recently asked you to vote for us for the BIFA Cinema of the Year award. Part of the voting process allowed you to leave comments about what you love about us. While we didn’t end up being nominated, receiving more than 5K heartfelt messages made us feel like the real winners! Thank you! ❤️

My favourite is Climax, which drops its title card about 40 mins into the film.

Here's a young Sam Peckinpah playing a bit part as a bank teller opposite Joel McCrea in Jacques Tourneur's Wichita (1955). I think you'll agree that Peckinpah's performance is nuanced & riveting, just like his films

My book, Fulci's Inferno, is the first major new writing on Lucio Fulci in years, and the first to fully analyse the themes across his work. It analyses his entire career, and includes over 50 photos.

This book took 8 years to research and write. I hope you're gonna love it.

An extraordinary work. Saw it a few years ago, during the Pandemic when a film programmer put it on as an online event. Now it’s on the YouTube.
RIP Peter Watkins, whose film about the 1871 Paris Commune treats it as if it were a current news event, with participants talking to reporters. It runs to nearly six hours & was shot in less than a fortnight in an abandoned factory www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDTT...

Many stories of haunted houses may be related to Cyclosa imago, also known as the Haunting Spider.
When a colony settles an abandoned building, they collectively defend against human intrusion by forming dense webs, which have been interpreted as ghostly apparitions.
